It maintains adequate balance of social, environmental and economic values, while allowing for economic development. It repealed Sections 28 to 31 of the Coal Conservation Act, Section 43 of the Oil and Gas Conservation Act, and Section 12 of the Oil Sands Conservation Act. These sections deal with industrial development permits. As a result of these amendments, the ERCB will no longer issue industrial development permits.
